Before December comes

Our local supermarket had an amazing offer on Chrysanthemums, so I bought a bunch and made a couple of floral arrangements together with some dark red roses for our home. There's no special occasion, but I must admit that I am very close to craving for Christmas at this point. They do look a bit christmasy, don't they?

Vår lokala speceriaffär hade ett fantastiskt bra erbjudande på krysantemum, så jag köpte en hel hög och gjorde några blomsterarrangemang tillsammans med djupröda rosor. Vi firar inget speciellt, men jag måste erkänna att jag är farligt nära till att längta efter julen nu alltså! De ser lite juliga ut, eller hur?

For our dining room I made a large, but simple arrangement in a big glass fishbowl. I've just put the cut flowers randomly in the bowl, and tied a matching ribbon around it. Simple, yet decorative!

Vårt vardagsrum fick ett stort, men enkelt blomsterarrangemang. Jag har bara stuckit ner snittblommorna lite slumpvis i en stor, rund glasskål och knutit ett matchande sidenband runt skålen. Enkelt men dekorativt!

For the kitchen table and the office desk I made two smaller arrangements in two stoneware bowls. In order for the flowers to stay in place I first put a wet floral oasis in the bottom of each bowl, and then arranged the cut flowers tightly. To give them that little something extra, I added some pearls as well.

Till köksbordet och kontoret gjorde jag två mindre arrangemang i skålar av stengods. För att blommorna ska sitta på plats lade jag först en uppblött oasis i botten på skålarna och stack sen ner blommorna ganska tätt. Jag satte också i några pärlor för att få till det där lilla extra.

The book on our office table is a gift from two friends who found it in a second hand shop and thought it would suit me. 

The title is: "Hints on Etiquette and Usages of the Society - With a Glance at Bad Habits". Hilarious! The book is printed in London 1946 and contains lots of hints and tips on how to "save the blush but upon one cheek", both in marriage, social life, business, fashion and many other parts of life. 

I'll read the book thoroughly, and then make sure all my friends and business associates read it to! It would be nice to finally get some order and discipline in social life! Haha!

Boken som ligger på skrivbordet är en gåva från två vänner som hittade den på second hand och tyckte att den passade mig. 

Titeln är: "Hints on Etiquette and Usages of the Society - With a Glance at Bad Habits". Fantastiskt roligt! Boken är tryckt i London år 1946 och innehåller tips och råd på hur man undviker pinsamma klavertramp, både i äktenskapet, umgängeslivet, affärer, mode och många andra delar i livet. 

Jag ska läsa boken ordentligt och sen se till att alla mina vänner och affärsbekanta gör det också! Det ska bli så skönt att äntligen få någon slags ordning på umgänget! Haha!
